Met Eireann has issued a rare 'high temperature' warning as even hotter weather is on the way. It comes as maps show the mercury could soar as high as 30C.
The national forecaster has issued a rare ‘high temperature’ alert in anticipation of very warm and humid conditions that are expected to persist through Thursday and Friday.
The warning also highlights three potential impacts: Heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and the risk of water related incidents. “Warm and humid tonight with clear spells and a few showers, possibly heavy and thundery. Temperatures will not fall below 14C to 17C in a light to moderate southeast breeze, with a few mist or fog patches.
“Mist and fog will lift from most areas on Friday morning but may linger in coastal areas. It will be another very warm day with plenty of autumn sunshine. However, a few heavy showers or thunderstorms may break out inland during the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures of 24C to 27C in light and variable breezes.
