The Co Down native is aiming to win Ireland's first World Championship medal on the track in 28 years before Rhasidat Adeleke runs in the 400m final some 24 hours later
in Budapest.
Mageean finished third in her semi-final with a time of 4:02.70 on Sunday, with Kenya's Nelly Chepchirchir taking first place, while Ethopia's Birke Haylom came second.The 1500m final is scheduled to start at 8.31pm Irish time and the race will be shown live on both Virgin Media 2 and BBC Two. Speaking after her semi-final run, Mageean told RTE: "I'm feeling good, feeling happy with that, the aim was to be here and be in that final. Now I'm there, it's anybody's game."
She added: "I pretty much knew we'd all be in and around the same kind of place, just prepared for it to be either strung out or to be a bunch, and it was a bunch. You have to tell yourself not to panic, hoping that you will get out. "I felt confident with my finish. I'm looking forward to getting out there; I'm in good shape with the season I've had off the back of last season. I' m excited to get out there and race."
