Today FM announces departure of long-serving radio host Dermot Whelan
Today FM has announced that Dermot Whelan, co-host of the Dermot and Dave Show, is to leave radio after Friday's show to focus on his own newly-developed brand.
Dermot and Dave have been an award-winning duo for two decades, during which they worked at 98FM and then Today FM where they co-hosted their show since 2014.The show has been massively popular on Irish airwaves since its inception almost a decade ago.They recently toured Australia supporting the Irish Women's Football Team during this year's World Cup.
He told the Irish Examiner in 2022: "I want to see people in their early 20s, sitting down for five minutes of silence to strengthen their brain and strengthen their resilience and not just crushing it in the gym and then doubting themselves in every decision they make." Today FM posted a tribute to Dermot on their Twitter featuring three photos of the pair together in the studio, wishing Dermot "huge love" and confirming Dave's new show set to air at the end of the month.
