The RTÉ favourite has been tipped to replace President Michael D. Higgins many times, but she wouldn't consider running for president if the opportunity arose as the next election draws closer.
Miriam told RSVP Magazine: "I can put firmly on the record that I will never be running for the role of the President of Ireland and that is a definite." "I am in the public eye now but if you were the president your daily routine is less determined by yourself but more by the rigours and demands of such an important office. I want to be around for my family."The Prime Time presenter explained: "Of course it is an honour, but you’d also feel embarrassed answering the question because it is such an important role. And while it would be a huge honour, I won’t be throwing my hat in the ring.
"Mum is amazing, she still drives, she goes to Mass most mornings, she is a phenomenon. She was always a great role model as a working mother."You can hardly get her to sit down, she is still incredibly hard working, stoic and kind – I think those traits are so important in life."She said: "I think there is a lot of luck involved in life too. Mum was widowed a couple of weeks after my sister died.
"I am forever grateful for my good fortune. Would I have had that if Anne hadn’t died? I hope so, but I don’t know.
