The full list of final measures for Budget 2024 will be announced on Tuesday but in the meantime the Minister for Social Protection confirmed a social welfare increase
Minister for Social Protection has confirmed that there will be an increase to weekly social welfare rates in Budget 2024.
The Budget is just around the corner and whispers of the measures we can expect have been around for the last several weeks.Read more:Budget 2024: Full list of changes expected for parents including double payments and childcare cuts The Irish Mirror reports that the social welfare increase is not expected to fall below last year's €12 increase.
Speaking at the Tidy Towns award ceremony in Croke Park on Friday evening, Minister Humphreys said: "Budget negotiations continue but what I can tell you is there will be an increase in the basic social welfare rate.“I'm working my way through it at the minute, and I'd be happy to make the announcement on Tuesday.“I'm working with my colleagues, in particular Minister Donohoe and Minister McGrath to bring forward the package, which will be announced on Tuesday.
“There’ll be a tax package to help working people. There will be a welfare package as well and pension increases and also some further Government measures to reduce the cost of living for people."Join our new WhatsApp community!
