In the midst of an unusual summer. forecasters in Met Eireann have been warned that the country needs to prepare itself for more extreme weather events due to ongoing climate change
It has been a washout of a summer, and while some dry spells are on the way, there isn't any sort of heatwave in sight.
The climate guidance was sent to meteorologists in June amidst a summer of freak weather events globally including record-breaking temperatures, catastrophic flooding, and out-of-control forest fires. For the rest of this week, it will be a mix of sunny spells and showers. You can check out Met Eireann's forecast below.
Thursday August 17 Any mist and fog will clear early leaving a generally fine and dry morning with good spells of sunshine too. A little cloud will build later in the morning as the sunshine becomes hazy. Staying dry though, as southeast winds gradually freshen into the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees. Becoming rather cloudy Thursday evening with outbreaks of light rain or drizzle along southwestern counties early in the night.
