The former Bohemians star has been held back by injury but is ready to make his contribution
Out of the team and frustrated with how life started at Shamrock Rovers, Liam Burt had time on his hands.
Still, Burt’s close-season move from the Gypsies generated the kind of headlines you would expect and the attacking midfielder was eager to hit the ground running. The former Scotland U21 international made just three substitute appearances in the first month of the season before slipping off the radar.
Handed a first league start against Cork City three weeks ago, Burt scored and provided an assist, doing enough to retain his place for the draw at Shelbourne. “The only people who really knew what was going on were people from Bohs who had a rough idea as they knew the injury situation, and also the people involved here.Burt found it difficult sitting in the stands during that first half of the season, having arrived in Tallaght to much fanfare after being a top dog at Bohs.
“You're coming into a league winning team and it's always going to be hard no matter what the manager says when he's trying to sign you. “I was pushing myself through games and three or four days later, I was sore and struggling to move. But I was always playing.
