RTE Radio 1 bosses have yet to name a permanent host of the newly rebranded The Nine O'Clock Show and presenter Kathryn Thomas says she has thrown her hat in the ring
The ex RTE presenter hosted the The Ryan Tubridy Show weekday mornings on Radio 1 but was taken off air back in June when revelations of the national broadcaster's payments scandal began to unfold.
In August, it was revealed that Ryan would be not coming back to RTE and his radio show was rebranded to The Nine O'Clock Show.Since then Oliver Callan, Brendan Courtney, Maura Derrane and Ciara King have all guest hosted the slot but bosses are yet to announce a permanent presenter.Kathryn works mainly in TV but is no stranger to the airwaves and regularly fills in for Ray D'Arcy when he takes time off his afternoon Radio 1 show.
"There are big changes being made in RTE. It's a big decision and they're looking at, not just the presenter in that role, they're looking at the schedule." "So in terms of how that's all working and how that has gone, I don't know," Kathryn added to the Irish Independent."Anybody who gets the privilege of putting their own stamp on the slot has to go in there with confidence."
The presenter acknowledges that there will be a lot of "noise" around the role but the "right person" will be able to "drown it out".Join our new WhatsApp community!
