A man was trudging through the muddy fields of Ratheniska in Laois just two hours before he tied the knot with his fiancée in Carlow.
“We really suit each other. In this business, she knows the hours can be quite long. She knows what she’s getting herself into but she’s happy out.” He said the wedding was booked way before he was accepted to exhibit his invention, a piece of machinery to carry multiple bales of hay, at the three-day festival.
“I’m looking forward to later on, we’re going to have a few drinks and a meal. We’re having a low-key wedding so only a few friends and family are coming.” Colm said he only told his friends and family that he would be at the ploughing in the hours before the wedding “last week.”Anna May McHugh, who is known as the Queen of the Ploughing and celebrated 50 years of being the Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association this year, said: “I wish him well … it’s a great story.”
