The car involved failed to remain at the scene of the collision which occurred just after 9pm
The crash, which involved a car and a pedestrian, took place just after 9pm at the Cross Guns Bridge on Phibsborough Road.
The scene of the collision is preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The section of road from Cross Guns Bridge to the junction of Phibsborough Road and Connaught Street is closed and local diversions are in place.A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision at the Cross Guns Bridge on Phibsborough Road, Dublin 7, which occurred at approximately 9.10pm on Wednesday, October 4.
