A brutal heatwave has been forecast for Spain, with fears temperatures could reach a scorching 45C. Spain’s meteorological agency AEMET has issued weather warnings.

Tourists from Ireland planning their sunny getaway are being urged to brace themselves for the near-unbearable heat that lies ahead. However, it has pinpointed this weekend and early next week as the exact date for even hotter temperatures, describing it as “an episode of intense heat”.
