It is understood that he was travelling with his wife, Ann Marie, to watch their son, Ruairi, play for Cork City FC in an evening Premier Division League of Ireland clash with Sligo Rovers.Cork City said in a statement on Sunday: "All at Cork City FC are deeply saddened at the passing of Ciaran Keating, father of our player Ruairí Keating.
"May he rest in peace. We ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be confirmed in due course." "We would like to send our condolences to Ruairí and his family and all at @CorkCityFC at this very difficult time." His wife Ann Marie, a secondary teacher, was taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment for injuries which are understood not to be life-threatening.A male passenger in the second vehicle was also hospitalised.
