Respected garda who died in boat blaze tragedy in Carrick-On-Shannon named as tributes are paid
The woman who tragically died after a fire broke out on a boat was a highly-respected Detective Garda who was in the force for nearly 30 years.It's understood the fire broke out as she was sleeping and a passer-by spotted the blaze and raised the alarm.Despite the best efforts of the emergency services and gardai who responded, Det Gda Finn died at the scene.
She was also an active member of the Garda Representative Association for over 20 years, and held key roles in the frontline rep body. Another told us: "Everybody knew her and loved her. She was a lovely person and had a great, very bubbly personality."A garda spokesman said: "Gardai assisted emergency services following reports of a fire on a boat in Carrick-On-Shannon, County Leitrim, on the morning of Monday 7th August 2023.
