Several government sources including Taoiseach Leo Varadkar have confirmed that there will be an increase in the weekly pension - but the exact amount is yet to be decided

“It looks like we’ll be spending €1.4billion on pensions which is €500million more than the €880million we spent to fund the €12 increase for this current fiscal year.” “That will have to be discussed between now and October will have to be seen in the round of other things we want to do as a Government."
