The powerful mural is painted on South Great George's Street

The artist who created the powerful mural of Sinéad O’Connor has opened up on the meaning behind the "angry" expression on the late icon’s face.

Posting a picture of the striking artwork online, Emmalene explained how a woman walked past her and "gave out to me for making her look so angry"."She said it would be 'much nicer with her looking happy'. I replied that she had a lot to be angry about," Emmalene wrote on Instagram. "And she turned that anger into something useful, she used it to fight for people’s rights, and to speak up for the abused and the oppressed. She was brave and she wasn’t afraid to show her anger, even if it made people call her mad and even if it meant she was ostracised.

The striking and powerful mural depicting the late icon has received a positive reaction online, with many flocking to the comments to share their praise of Emmalene for her work on the piece.
