As it stands, the FAI have not scheduled an emergency board meeting to fast track their next move.
O’Neill said: “The whole idea was he would change the course of football. We’re going to be a possession team, we’re going to change it. The FAI are still dealing with the fallout from Vera Pauw’s controversial exit as women’s senior manager a fortnight ago. A press conference to address the Pauw fallout is expected later this week, but the association’s stance on Kenny will now share top billing.
A November 21 home friendly against New Zealand closes out the year and Ireland will know that night if they have a Euro playoff via the Nations League path.
