The Shamrock Rovers star’s dream of playing in a World Cup was shattered due to a hamstring injury in March, shortly after her stint on Dancing with the Stars.
Footie ace Stephanie Roche said she’s “proud” that her “beautiful goal” in 2013 paved the way for Ireland’s World Cup dream.
Stephanie, 34, told us: “I grew up in a time when women’s football wasn’t really thought of in a positive light. It was more of a man’s game.“Then people started to care a little bit and we’ve gradually got better and better.She controlled a pass mid air and smashed the strike in the top corner of the net with a sensational left-footed volley — and the goal went viral.
“Even if we get beaten and there’s a good performance in it, we can go into the next game with confidence.“We’ve done it against the USA, we didn’t get the result we needed.
