Sandile Swana says some people whose names have appeared in the Zondo Commission report and who may have caused more economic harm to the country, have not been asked to step aside.
ANC officials who’ve been charged with serious crimes cannot stand for any position in the party. The decision was strengthened by the party’s NEC last week. Swana says some people whose names have appeared in the Zondo Commission and who may have caused more economic harm to the country, have not been asked to step aside. The party rules that officials who’ve been charged with serious crimes cannot stand for any position in the party.Swana said:"Remember that out of that process there could be a clarification of a minimum that is required for you to be asked. This I think is unfair because some of the people in the Zondo commission documents who may have caused more economic harm to South Africa have not been asked to step aside.
"People who may have committed perjury like Bathabile Dlamini, people who may not have much economic impact may be asked to step aside. "The documents of SIU, Zondo, and National Treasury, people who are there probably need to be put on the list of step aside one or the other…”
