Snooker star Neil Robertson was left dumbfounded when a referee reprimanded him for eating a banana between frames.
The 2010 World Champion was midway through his match against Fan Zhengyi at the Shanghai Masters when the incident occurred. In the break between the fifth and sixth frames the Australian took a bite out of a banana as he sat waiting for the next frame to begin. This triggered referee Zhu Ying to intervene and politely ask him to stop eating. A bewildered Robertson looked on seemingly confused by the situation.Robertson posted on X to seek clarification on the rules.
It didn't have much affect on the 23 times ranking event winner as he strolled to victory beating the Chinese youngster 6-1 to seal a semi-final date with current World Champion Luca Brecel. The Belgian defeated a lacklustre Robert Milkins by a scoreline of 6-3. The winner of that will face either Mark Selby or Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. This year's world finalist Selby comfortably defeated 2019 World Champion Judd Trump 6-1 whilst The Rocket came from 5-2 behind to defeat John Higgins 5-6.
