Neil Farrugia has been in fine form for Shamrock Rovers this season - and he recently marked his return from injury with a wondergoal against Bohemians.
The former Under-21 star is uncapped at senior level, but was called into Stephen Kenny’s squad for the summer training camp in Bristol in June.
But for now he is just glad to have Farrugia and fellow wing-back Trevor Clarke back in time for the title run-in, which continues tonight at the Ryan McBride Brandywell against second placed Derry City.“We know when they’re fit we’re a different team to play against. They give us different options. Having those two back and healthy at this stage of the season is brilliant.”
“Against Bohs, Flores had gone left-back and the first thing Neil did was go and beat him three times. He’s very hard to defend against.”“We’d all like to have more goals and assists but that comes with time,” he said. “He would want more goals I’m sure he would but I don’t think that’s too far away, he’s always working on it.Farrugia is thrilled to be back in action just over two months after he picked up his hamstring injury.
Farrugia’s comeback came in the 3-0 win over Bohemians a fortnight ago, when he came off the bench and scored within minutes of his arrival. Looking ahead to tonight’s top-of-the-table clash, Farrugia said: “Seven games left and all seven are going to be really important.“Points wise it's a big game, but we’re going to approach it as any other game. If you start thinking about the end result it can hinder you.
