The 2023 Ryder Cup will see Team USA try and defend its 2021 crown but Team Europe has one of the world's hottest golfers in Viktor Hovland on its side
The 26-year-old, who hails from Olso, Norway, has 10 professional wins to his name, with the latest coming at the Tour Championship in late August. Hovland beat Ryder Cup Team USA member Xander Schauffele by five strokes to claim £14.1m in prize money.
Off camera, Hovland was asked whether he would keep the drink for himself, only for the European Ryder Cup star to politely decline. “I’m good,” Hovland replied. “Only Zero, [I] only drink Zero.” Back then, Hovland's short game was suffering. But two years on, there have been drastic improvements in his play. “I lacked the special things in the matches to where you really flip the momentum around, and you can build on a big putt or an up-and-down or maybe a chip-in or something like that,” FedEx Cup champion Hovland said of his Ryder Cup debut. “That just wasn’t there.”
