A decision on his radio return still has to be made
Offers of work for Ryan Tubridy are said to be "sparse" as the RTE presenter continues to await a decision about his future at the station.According to sources, the longer he waits in "no man's radioland", the more his stardom wanes.
Sources have now said that Mr Bakhurst could be playing "a strategic long game" while it doesn't look like Ryan has been offered work elsewhere as he awaits a decision on his future with the national broadcaster."The [Oireachtas] committee hearings were barely a month ago. Back then Ryan Tubridy was the talk of the town.
While the radio presenter is still being paid while he is off air, the sum is less than what was requested in an invoice issued to the station last month.He told The Irish Times: "We didn't reach an agreement, so we're paying him what we think is reasonable on an interim basis." He added that there was "an urgency around reaching a resolution now" and hopefully one will be reached in "the next week or two".
