British comedian Russell Brand was accused of rape and sexual assault by The Times, Channel 4's Dispatches and The Sunday Times, but he has denied all allegations
British comedian Russell Brand made a number of disturbing jokes about sexual misconduct in his autobiographies, it has been revealed.
“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies and as I have written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. In My Booky Wook, Brand's first autobiography published in 2007, he says he went for treatment for his sex addiction as he was worried it would interfere with his career. “I didn’t want to go to that sexual treatment centre but all the do-gooders... they all insisted, and I sort of, kind of agreed.
This comment may refer to the 1988 Anfal campaign by Iraqi troops against the Kurds, a minority ethnic group in Iraq. The campaign was ordered by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. It is believed that between 50,000 and 100,000 people died during the military operation, many of them civilians. The comedian also claimed in My Booky Wook that his father took him on holidays to Asia aged 16, and he paid for him to have sex with prostitutes: “When I came back, I was much more comfortable around women – sure in the knowledge that I had ‘come back a man’.
