Rory McIlroy broke down in tears after his Ryder Cup singles victory just hours after he found himself at the centre of a row with caddy Joe LaCava.
The Northern Irish golfer was upset with LaCava, caddy for Patrick Cantlay, after he continued to celebrate near McIlroy as he lined up his putt on the 18th green. And things spilled over in the car park afterwards with Shane Lowry forced to intervene as McIlroy continued to be upset and argue in the direction of Jim 'Bones' Mackay.And speaking to Sky Sports afterward, McIlroy broke down in tears as he spoke about this year's Ryder Cup and the row from the night before.“I felt like I used it to my advantage and came out with a different level of focus and determination and in a way it gave the whole team a bit of fire in our bellies.
“It’s a great bounce back after Whistling Straits. The team we have is incredible. It’s a young team I think will be around for a long time. It’s been a great week for me personally but need to follow them and get them in the house.”
