Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien is pushing for the renter's credit to be increased in the upcoming budget.However, he has said that he does not see the eviction ban being reintroduced this year.Mr O’Brien said he hopes the Budget will give him the opportunity to enhance some of the schemes which are aimed at reducing the cost of homeownership and renting in Ireland’s housing market.
“I’d like to see it increased to the average rent per renter which is currently €790 a month,” he told the Independent. “That’s per renter, so if you had two or three lads or girls renting they would all get it and it would make a big difference.
