Last year’s event caused controversy after the goat had to be taken down from his 50ft podium amid blistering temperatures.
Organisers of the Puck Fair have given the festival a major overhaul after hundreds of complaints to an animal welfare hotline last year.
Yesterday organisers confirmed that Ireland’s oldest ‘gathering’ festival which runs from August 10-12 was in line for an overhaul.A spokesperson said: “This year, King Puck will be coronated and raised for a short period on the opening evening of the fair. He will then leave his stand before making a brief reappearance for his dethroning ceremony on the final day of Puck Fair.
