He will make his debut on the show later this year, as current host Ryan Tubridy will say farewell in his last show next week and the programme will take a break during the summer. He took to Instagram yesterday evening as he thanks people for their kind messages, in his first post since the news was announced."On the floor with all the kind messages guys, honestly can't thank you enough.Sharing a statement when the news was first announced on Saturday, Patrick said: "I’m absolutely thrilled to be the next host of The Late Late Show.
“I’m also genuinely humbled to become part of Friday nights for so many Irish people, at home and around the world. I can’t wait to get started on one of the greatest jobs in television. It's been so lovely to finally share the news and I’m genuinely overwhelmed by all the messages. "To everyone who’s got in touch, I can’t thank you enough.
