The country is holding on for an upturn in weather fortunes but it doesn't look like this weekend is going to deliver for beleaguered sunseekers.
"Cooler than average with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 or 19 degrees Celsius, best values in the southeast. Winds will be mostly moderate westerly, later backing southwesterly and freshening along Atlantic coasts." Sunday will bring low cloud and the resultant rain "will persist into the morning hours, again with possible heavy falls," Met Eireann signalled.
