The Irish Mirror understands that the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party could be asked at its meeting on Wednesday evening to support a motion calling for a public inquiry into Shane O'Farrell's death.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has confirmed that the Government will not establish an independent inquiry into the death of Shane O’Farrell.

Following the debate, Sinn Féin’s Matt Carthy pointed out that the motion passed by the Dáil in 2018 called for a public inquiry. He was told that motions are not legally binding.
