The high energy front row star feels what happened at past finals has no bearing on this squad at France 2023, while Malakai Fekitoa admits it will be strange to play against ex-Munster colleagues when Tonga take on Ireland on Saturday

Andrew Porter says Andy Farrell's squad has no hang-ups about Ireland's Rugby World Cup 'curse' - and insists that they are ready to be world champs.

After the rout of Romania last Saturday, Andy Farrell has to weigh up his selection options because an experienced and physical Tonga outfit must be treated seriously. “It's a tough pool, there’s no arguing that. But yeah, I think it's a great couple of tests for us and it will prepare us well with our order of games.

Meanwhile, Malakai Fekitoa reveals it will be weird to play against former Munster team-mates on Saturday - and claims that facing Ireland will be Tonga's toughest World Cup test at France 2023. For now, though, he is one of a number of experienced Test players back playing for their native Tonga thanks to the change in World Rugby's eligibility rules and they will pose a challenge to Ireland.
