Met Eireann weatherwoman hints at last-minute summer comeback and explains mystery behind all the rain
Weatherwoman Linda Hughes says the sun may make a return this month, after a washout summer so far here.
“Due to the chaotic nature of the atmosphere, there’s uncertainty in forecasting beyond around 10 days. But it looks like temperatures will be closer to normal for this time of year or a bit above. We can’t really say how good yet.”Linda explained: “We’ve been stuck in the path of Atlantic low pressure systems, while a blocking area of high pressure has been bringing record high temperatures to southern Europe.
“Southern Europe is experiencing high pressure and with the Mediterranean Sea temperatures of mid- to high-twenties. “As a kid, when the weather forecast came on after the news every evening it was time to sit still and stay quiet. It’s still so important to so many people, so it’s amazing to get to be a part of it. It’s always one of the first topics of conversations.”
“Then the realisation hits. It’s really lovely when people come up to talk, just to say hello and or they like watching my broadcasts, or to thank me for the work I do.
