A man has been jailed for 13 years for killing his mother’s partner in Cork six years ago.
43-year-old Andrew Nash, from Parnell Street in Thurles, County Tipperary attacked and killed 51-year-old Jonathan Ustic in his home in Skibbereen in 2017. Mr Ustic died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries after the assault, which saw Nash dropping a sofa on his head and chest.Nash pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter, which was accepted by the State.
In sentencing, Judge Michael McGrath described it as a ‘vicious and sustained’ attack but accepted the guilty plea and an expression of remorse in mitigation.
