A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged over an alleged stabbing incident on Dublin’s Grafton Street over the weekend.

The Algerian native, appeared before Dublin District Court charged with assault causing harm and possession of a knife.Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution, Garda Martin O’Rourke told the court the accused made no reply.

Garda O’Rourke added that the accused was allegedly seen on CCTV in a fight in the early hours of Sunday morning and running from the scene. The court heard the accused was later arrested on the Luas at St Stephen's Green, and it’s alleged there was a blood-stained knife beside him. Mr Akrouf was refused bail by Judge Michele Finan after considering conditions from Garda O’Rourke and defence solicitor Danica Kinane.

He was granted legal aid and remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court again on Friday.
