Justin Barrett has insisted that he is still the president of the far-right National Party despite the party insisting he has been removed from the role.
“This decision was taken due to an overwhelming lack of confidence from active party members in Mr Barrett’s continued ability to lead the party,” it read. Mr Reynolds said in the statement that he did not wish “to enter an unedifying public dispute with Mr Barrett”. However, Mr Barrett has insisted that he is still the leader of the party. In a message on his Telegram page, he questioned who he was dismissed by and who appointed Mr Reynolds party president.
