An Israeli deadline has passed for more than one million Palestinians to evacuate their homes and move from northern Gaza to the south.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Defence Forces said that an estimated 360,000 reserve soldiers were now"getting ready for the next stage of the operations."
The Israeli military says there's been a"significant movement" of Palestinian civilians following its 24 hour deadline to evacuate north Gaza - a densly populated area which includes Gaza city and two refugee camps. A spokesman said its stated aim is to dismantle the military capacity of Hamas so that it never again has the caability to inflict any damage on Israeli civilians or soldiers."
The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, said moving around one million people across a war zone would be extremely hazardous if not impossible.
