Frank Staples, from Co Wexford, was allegedly assaulted outside a McDonalds fast food restaurant on Beaufort St in Perth two weeks ago.
He was knocked to the ground by an alleged punch to the side of the head by a young Australian man on 24 July.
The 41-year-old sustained a brain haemorrhage as a result of the alleged attack and was in a coma for several days in ICU at the Royal Perth Hospital. “He was knocked to the ground because of one punch to the side of the head by a young Australian man. “He’s made some progress so he’s been able to be taken off the ventilator and now has a tracheostomy tube in.”
