A leader at the World Health Organisation Europe has warned that cases of the measles are on the rise, and holidaymakers need to be wary.
"Measles has been reported in 17 countries of the WHO European Region since the start of 2023. Over 900 cases were reported by the end of February, exceeding the number reported for all of 2022," says a new WHO report. "There is no question, we're going to see a surge of cases if things continue this way," Prof Helen Bedford, an expert in child public health at University College London, told The Sun.
Earlier this month, the HSE issued an urgent warning to parents as measles cases among children are on the rise all across Europe, with Irish children increasingly at risk of catching the highly contagious viral illness.
