Dr. Aileen McGloin, Director of Nutrition for Safefood shares the warning signs parents should be on the look out for if their kids are being impacted by energy drinks
Created by 20-something YouTube stars Logan Paul and KSI, Prime Hydration fuelled a sales rampage among teens and their parents who were being bombarded daily to secure the drink for their kids at sometimes insanely high prices.
“From a nutritional point of view, loading the body with such a huge amount of sugar in a very short period of time is not a good idea, but in the long term you're looking at associations with obesity and type two diabetes, she told RSVP. “If your child or teenager is constantly looking for them or seems to have one in their hand every time they get their pocket money that’s a problem.”
She also warned that parents should be on the lookout for signs of fatigue in their children and disturbed sleep.
