Irish actor Richard Flood says he doesn't miss Grey's Anatomy as he opened up on his decision to leave LA behind.“I don’t miss it to be honest,” he says, explaining that he didn’t feel like he was being challenged enough on the huge production.The actor, who is now the star of a new RTE drama, The Gone, said: “It was a great opportunity, and I met some lovely people, but The Gone is really the kind of stuff I’m looking for: in every day, long hours, some difficult scenes.
The Dublin born actor added: “I like that aspect of the acting industry where you get to collaborate and get to know others.Even before his stint on Grey's Anatomy, Flood regularly flew back and forth to Hollywood for work, but says he is more content with his life back between home in Ireland and Rome, where he is based with his actor wife Gabriella Pession and their son.
“But my wife and I felt that being European and growing up in Europe, it was what we knew and understood and that’s how we wanted our son to grow up as well.The star, whose CV also includes Shameless, Red Rock, and Crossing Lines, where he met his wife, said being married to another actor can be ‘logistically complicated’ as they try to juggle working on location and being at home to do the school run with their son.
The six-part drama is a mystery thriller set in New Zealand, where a Garda investigates an Irish couple’s disappearance as he grapples with his own demons.
