The 38-year-old, playing in his fourth finals, will retire when Ireland's tournament ends
Johnny Sexton is refusing to take his foot off the throttle in his bid to play as much as possible in his last Rugby World Cup.
"Johnny's not got potentially many more times wearing the green jersey and he wants to play every minute that he can," said assistant coach Simon Easterby. Sexton scored two tries and seven conversions in a 24-point haul that tied the previous best by an Irish player in the World Cup. "Training throughout the pre-season has helped. We've managed that well so the players, and Johnny in particular, have felt ready to go. Certainly if Johnny is fit and available then it's great for us.
“They’ve got a good set-piece, they’re well coached there and they can strike from pretty much anywhere with the guys they’ve got in their team," he said. “We’ve certainly targeted this game in terms of looking to set out our stall as to how we want to play. It was a good start yesterday, but we know it’ll be a step up.”Henshaw was selected to provide bench cover for yesterday's victory, but the experienced centre wasn't risked after flagging a hamstring concern at the captain's run on Friday.
