Tadhg Beirne says that the 16 match winning streak has the players convinced that if they put a performance together, they can be unstoppable no matter who they are facing

Tadhg Beirne says that Ireland's current aura of invincibility has them believing they can beat all-comers at the Rugby World Cup.

"Going forward in this competition it's about making those patches bigger and bigger and hopefully into an 80 minute performance.Beirne laughed that he didn't have the gas left to chase his important hack upfield in a big second half turning point on Saturday night. "Yeah, hugely," nodded Beirne. "In the second half we probably didn't get going, really. We didn't get an opportunity to attack.

The tournament's most absorbing contest to date had many twists and turns and, while Ireland drew first blood in terms of Mack Hansen's 25th minute try, the arrival of half of the Springboks' 'nuke' squad just after half-time coincided with Cheslin Kolbe's five-pointer. "I've just seen it and booted it, but I couldn't chase it, that's the issue," joked Beirne, who put in a back-breaking shift in the second row.

Beirne's kick was one of two obvious momentum shifts in Ireland's favour, the other coming in the first half when Bundee Aki's try-saving tackle on Jesse Kriel saw the Boks' centre attempted off-load bounce off Siya Kolisi's head into Caelan Doris' arms.
