'We are looking forward to presenting our bid to UEFA on 10th October. These are exciting times, and we have a very compelling EURO 2028 proposal for UEFA,' reads the beginning of an FAI statement.
The Ireland & UK bid to host Euro 2028 will be unopposed after UEFA announced Turkey’s decision to withdraw from the process.
If the bid is successful as expected, the news will see Ireland play host to a major international football tournament for the first time ever. England have previously hosted the 1966 World Cup and Euro 96 tournaments, and was also the main staging ground for Euro 2021.The FAI have released the following statement regarding the proposal to host Euro 2028:
"Our bid is ground-breaking for the Men’s European Championships and will deliver lasting legacies across the whole of Ireland and the UK.
