The Today FM presenter was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2012 and has to watch his weight as a result

Radio star Ian Dempsey has revealed he’s taking weight loss drug Ozempic as prescribed by his doctor.Ian, 62, said: "I’m a great fan of food but [Ozempic] does actually make you disinterested in it, which is not good."It’s also supposed to bring your sugar levels and your blood pressure down, which is a good thing, so I’m sticking with it.Breakfast show favourite Ian admits he was never slim, but he told how he lost two stone in the past without any help from medication.

He told RSVP Magazine: "I just stopped eating bread and that actually worked, but then I put a bit back on."You have to inject yourself once a week, but it means that I might be able to get off all the other stuff.Ian learned how to inject himself over a decade ago when he was first diagnosed and needed insulin and glucophage to prevent against hypoglycemic episodes.

Earlier this year, the presenter shut down rumours that he is set to quit his Today FM breakfast show which has more than 200,000 listeners. He opened up to RSVP about his 43-year relationship with his wife Ger who he started dating when he was 19 and she was 18."We’re a good couple and we’re also great friends."
