As he is convicted of driving three times over the legal alcohol limit, Wayne Rooney has now spoken of his “unforgivable lack of judgement”.
The footballer pleaded guilty to charges presented to him in court on Monday – being handed down by the judge a two-year driving ban as well as 100 hours’ community service.His wife of nine years – currently pregnant with their fourth child – was not present in court but Wayne was wearing his wedding ring.
“Of course I accept the sentence of the court and hope that I can make some amends through my community service.”Mrs Rooney had to return home from a holiday in Spain when she was told of Wayne’s arrest on September 1; he spent 12 hours in a police cell in the aftermath. The couple has three young sons: Kai, aged seven, Klay, four, and Kit, 18 months.
