A teenager died after the car he was travelling in was involved in a head-on crash in the early hours of yesterday morning.Officers are investigating whether the vehicle, which had earlier been reported to gardai as stolen, was on the wrong side of the motorway.The victim, who was from the Cork city area, is understood to have been a passenger in the vehicle.

It’s understood the car the teenagers were travelling in had an interaction with gardai shortly before the fatal collision.Gardai have called for any potential witnesses to come forward."Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have video footage is asked to contact Gardaí. Section 91 of the Garda Siochana Act provides for the examination by GSOC of the circumstances of a referral or complaint with a view to recommending what further investigative measures may be required.
