Some politicians and farming groups have labelled the proposals a ‘land grab’ but Greens minister Roderic O’Gorman tells the Business Post the move is ‘an attempt to halt the decades of decline and destruction of nature’

The Green Party will continue to work on proposals to pay farmers for nature restoration, a senior green party minister has said.

Roderic O’Gorman, the Minister for Children, was speaking to the Business Post after weeks of acrimony over the European Union’s proposed Nature Restoration Law, which is proposing targets for restoration nature across Europe, including specific targets around the rewetting of peatlands.
