The grandmother-of-three was treated to a surprise party by her McDonald's colleagues as she embarks on retirement
A Northern Irish granny is remembering her favourite memories from working in McDonald in Belfast as she celebrates her retirement.
"I didn't think I would retire but as my sister and family said, 'Maureen you are 66 now it's time to enjoy yourself'. I will miss the company and the customers and all my friends and the craic." When asked if she understood what she brought to the branch, Maureen said: "Not really, I love coming into work and we all have the craic and a laugh and they will say to me when I am off they miss me, I say is it because it's quiet because I would shout at them if they are up to anything.
"Being honest I treat everyone the same, with respect because I brought up three sons and I was always taught 'never judge a book by its cover'," she said. "We laugh whenever we are busy and the security man comes up and says they have to leave and they will joke with me, 'He's throwing us out Mo'. I say I am only a grey shirt, I'm not a white shirt, then they will say they love me and see me next week.
