A garda is being treated in hospital following an overnight attack in which he was sprayed in the face with a chemical substance during an attempted arrest in Dublin city centre.
The male garda, in his 20s and stationed at Kilmainham Station, was brought to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not serious. "The vehicle, a car which had been reported stolen earlier this month in the Dublin area, was recovered and removed from the scene for forensic and technical examination.
