Méabh de Búrca is one of three coaches on the new series of popular TG4 show Underdogs, which this year is switching from Gaelic games to women's football.
Underdogs coach Méabh de Búrca has described the first time cutting someone from the popular TG4 show as “the toughest working day” of her life.
To get to that point, however, 52-time capped de Búrca and her fellow coaches have to decide each week on which player they have to drop from the show. “It’s the first time I would have had to do that, really. I’ve coached before, but not in the scenario where you are bringing someone into a room and telling them, ‘You’re dropped’.
“They all have different backgrounds. Some are doing it after years away from the game for various reasons. “Laura and Charlie bring great experience too, so it’s been really good to bounce different ideas off each other,” said the former Salthill Devon and Galway midfielder, who also had spells in the USA, Norway and Sweden.
