Being a part of the twists and turns of Carrigstown’s anniversary week is a “great honour” for the actor who plays the character of James Rafferty - he lifts the lid on the thrills and spills ahead this week
Fair City’s Matthew O’Brien has told how playing the villain is “very good fun” — and opened up about some of the “thrills and spills” ahead in Carrigstown.
“I went for it, hoping beyond hope that I’d get it — and I did. I was very fortunate to be cast in Fair City, it was really great.” “I’ve always said that James, he just — he says the stuff that people maybe don’t have the courage to say or actually admit. But it wouldn’t really be Carrigstown if things went smoothly — and their plan is set to go horribly wrong.
“The kidnapping fiasco is going to be interesting to watch. I think that James, he gets himself in over his head again — and he does his very best to try and save face.Being a part of the twists and turns of Carrigstown’s anniversary week is a “great honour”, Matthew added. “I’ve had no bad experiences. Obviously, it’s all been in the best of humour and the best kind of spirits. Grannies give out to me like feck, and I’d say with the upcoming stories they’re really going to have a field day with James.”Fair City's Stephen O'Leary enjoys sunny holiday with stunning girlfriend Lauren
He continued, “He’s got a very dry wit sometimes, and I think he’s been through enough that he’s jaded with the world and can see through the BS that some people try to placate him with.” “It’s down to the familiarity’s and I think that it keeps a lot of people company — seeing those familiar faces, week in and week out, it’s almost like a connection.
“Interestingly enough, with the schedule here in Fair City, it’s a lot like theatre. It’s very fast paced and you don’t have time to dawdle.
